Modern man chooses synthetic fibers!

It was in the news a few days ago. Sheep farmers must pay to get rid of their wool. People no longer wear woolen clothing, opting instead for synthetic fibers… How on earth is it possible in this age of ecological ideals? To me, news like this is really proof that we as modern humans have drifted very far away from nature and simple living. What could be better than living in harmony with your environment, nature and your animals?

Okay, dangerous territory of course… Vegetarians and vegans will certainly disagree. All respect to people with that ideology, but of course we don’t all live like that. Indeed, according to
veganism.org
it involves just over 1% of the world’s population. And I am convinced that you can also live an “ordinary” life, with a small ecological footprint. Mass production and mass consumption are always bad, but unfortunately, man is an excessive and often destructive creature and if we continue to reproduce at this rate it really doesn’t matter what ideals we hold.

Sheep wool is ideal insulation

And so now we don’t know what to do with all the spring wool the sheep need to get rid of! There is even testing using sheep’s wool as fertilizer, processed into pellets! While I don’t have to Google far to find the most obvious solution for wants; insulation! It works great as an insulating material in your roof or walls, and in these days of green ideals and extreme energy prices, that should appeal, right?

Of course, there are again voices saying that raising sheep is bad for the environment. But if you do have sheep and a surplus of wool, it might be a good idea to use that wool as ecologically as possible. As an insulation material, for example. And above all, don’t forget that there are a great many people worldwide who depend on raising sheep for their income! We can’t all go into marketing or human resources, after all!
